C and Black Squads

I have 4 children who all swim and I work in a school. I spend a lot of time at the pool!

What is your fastest 100m time?

I'd ideally like to tell you I did it in around 1.07.00, however, it was more like 1.17.50 🤩

If you could have any animal as a pet, what would it be?

Giraffe

If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Tomatoes

If you could only wear one colour for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Blue

Do you have any hidden talents?

I can make my tongue into a clover 👌

I started swimming when I was around 4 years old and started Glenrothes Swimming Club at around 5 years old. I spent most of my younger life in the water and just loved the feeling of swimming. I then competed in many galas over the years and my highlight was when I won Scottish Champion for 50m breaststroke when I was 12 years old. I continued swimming until I was around 17 and have loads of fantastic memories. Some of which were going abroad with the club to places like Belgium, Germany, Austria, Turkey and more. Some of the friends I made at swimming are still good friends today. After I stopped swimming I went to University to do a degree in Primary Teaching and I still work in a school now. I have 4 children who all now swim and again I spend most of my time at the pool!

I started helping in 2019 when Amelia, Lucien, Remi and Elise all joined the club. I figured that if I was going to spend most of my evenings at the pool anyway, it made sense to help. I then went on to do my level 1 course and have now completed level 2 coaching as well. I absolutely love being on poolside and helping the kids do their best. As a swimmer myself, I get a lot out of seeing the successes when the kids try their very best 🤩

My advice would be this..... You won't always get PBs, win races or get medals. What matters is that you give 100% every time you get in the pool. You make that decision before you start your session. If you consistently do this, then the results will come. Resilience is one of the most important qualities a swimmer can have. Try to be resilient 💪

Lots of famous swimmers I'd like to swim alongside, but probably the one I'd choose is Michael Phelps. He is one of the world's greatest swimmers and it would just be amazing to do this. Can someone organise this for me?!

The kids are the most important part and so far, in my experience, they support each other, have a laugh and try their very best. I think the ethos of the club is fantastic. The group of volunteers is amazing as well 🙌
